For Your Difference Makes You Original

Forever searching for a place to fit in,

An unending goal

Rooted in the self.

It's a struggle for acceptance,

It's a desire for respect,

It's a need to be wanted.

You must ask yourself:

Do you accept who you are?

Do you respect who you are?

Do you cherish yourself?

It is in the answers and truth

That the search moves forward

Be not afraid of the person you are,

Even if everyone else is.

Hold fast to your qualities

When the world turns a judgmental eye.

Be proud of your difference,

Mourn their loss.

For they can never be you

You are an original,

You possess a special gift.

Embrace yourself and do not be afraid,

For your difference makes you original.

This is a poem I probably wrote in my last high school year and recently found. I had not realized I taught myself this near the start of my journey.
