Find What It Means for You
They recalled their young days when complaints about chores felt like a trend around them. They had never understood it, for they found a sense of power in being able to suck up clusters of dirt with a vacuum cleaner or magically swipe a stain and see the sparkle of cleanliness after. They felt like they had a purpose as they carried a laundry basket on their hip or folded each piece with care to help their family stay clean and healthy. Chores even offered them a moment of solitude and concentration to replace the troubles with care.
Presently, they sat with a different load of laundry in a different house for their current household and their mind wandered to the memories of the past and present. They felt at peace having a part in the care for the people they loved. They felt their sense of power in accomplishing a task and their purpose to care for others and their self.
In life, we will often encounter tasks that need to get done but aren’t what we desire to do. The perspective that we hold will have a great impact on what that task means to us. If we can find our purpose and enjoyment in it, no task would transform into a dreaded chore and everything we choose to do would have a meaning to us. Don’t let yourself be too easily drawn to focusing on what you don’t like. Admit what you don’t like, accept it as part of the process and move on to focus on something meaningful for you. Every small shift in thought will make a difference.
