Go Beyond the Quick Fix

While reading Migraines and Epilepsy by James Bogash, DC, I realize that my greatest regret in my medical journey is having fallen for the illusion of a quick fix. Sure, prescribed medicine gives a patient hope but when it didn’t work as promised, I wish I was wise enough to ask to dig deeper to find the cause while considering all that happened (the falls and exact details of effects) before believing in a quick solution. I felt that medication harmed more than helped me and this was probably because the root issues were hard to understand. Brain Injury was never openly discussed or monitored in my journey. I understand that neurology was on the brink of being understood at my time and I'm grateful that I can study it more today.

If I were to be diagnosed with a problem today, I'd definitely want to be more diligent in uncovering root causes instead of accepting a prescribed quick fix. Knowledge helps to give us understanding and opens new paths to explore, while the choices made will be ours to own.
