Why Erase the Slate and Start Anew?
At the start of June, I left my blog platform and almost 1500 followers to transfer to a new platform. I had hoped that I could transfer everything over, but it became clear that I should start as if I were brand new. During the transition, I had time to sort through my ten years of work, decipher my present mindset and aspirations, and create new paths to explore. I did continuously return to questioning why I went back to a clean slate, and I admit that I practically dumped a decade of hard work, but I also knew that my work had become stagnant. I first started my website under the impression that life could soon end, and I was anxious to make my share quickly. I was easily satisfied with a copy and paste method that allowed me to share during a difficult time in my life, but I must also admit that I skipped out on actual knowledge and experience, and I couldn’t continue that path.
I chose to start from scratch to make myself learn the modern way of communication and create new paths to expand my style. Previously, writing poetry gave me a way to sum up my experiences in a short and concise way. This let me express myself while hiding my full experience. During my site’s transition, my husband encouraged me to add more of my personal experience to my writing and this gave me the opportunity to get to know myself more.
The world is a playground for learning. Whether we follow a goal to project outwardly or simply play to learn, we are sharing and learning our energy with every action we decide upon. Some decisions will feel risky and cause uncertainty, but when you’re out to grow, the risk is worth the reward. Will I achieve the same success as my previous platform? Most likely, no, because this time I’m in no rush and my purpose is personal growth. My success is in every new tidbit I pick up along the way.
