Consciously Compare

They were taught not to compare. They thought this was necessary to be humbler or maybe a method to be kinder to their self. Despite practicing to never compare, something was missing and they wanted to know more. They wanted to recognize the whole picture.

To follow their curiosity, they started looking at life through a bigger lens. They wanted to know more about the workings of the world, and they started exploring dual sides of every story. They discovered that the negative and positive complimented each other for the whole. This encouraged them to reverse what they were taught and use comparisons to find more meaning. For every negative they chose to ignore, they realized the good they used to cope with. For every positive, they realized how the bad helped keep them focused and learning.

Through a new practice of using comparisons for discovery, the acceptance of what can’t be became easier and the acknowledgment of their effort and success became easier. They no longer needed someone to tell them about them, they had a way to see for their self. This also made it easier for them to view the world peacefully through a balanced perspective.

In life, we decide how we view the world and it’s our responsibility to find meaning. Turning away from one side of a story will not make us better for that will be incomplete. When we feel something is incomplete, we can choose to look again from different perspectives for more understanding. Use comparisons for discovery. Stay conscious that you’re not using it for or against anything. Stick to your purpose and let yourself learn.
