A Partner

They aren't an attachment

They're not there for completion

They mustn't always agree

They aren't assigned to always be by your side

~A partner ~

They are an extension in which to join

They offer opportunity to work together

They disagree so you both grow

They stand beside you to lend support

I remember growing up and thinking that to have a partner meant that you'd dedicate yourself to always being with them and trying to always agree. After experiencing an intimate relationship with a partner, I know that there are no set criteria of what a partner should be. Finding love isn't about finding completion. A partner isn't an attachment that should always agree, they are individuals that offer us a way to extend ourselves. Disagreements help us grow and support is what they lend when they are able.
