Grief

Inspired by 3 lines in an article about grief

“Grief is healing in motion.”

“Grief is the response to a broken bond of belonging.”

“Grief and praise are the same because you can only grieve what you've dearly loved.”

Grief is healing in motion,

An exploration of what was.

Acceptance of a bond that no longer is,

Honoring the belonging that once was sure.

Praise is recognition for what you've loved,

Ownership for a joy that lingers.

Acceptance that it's time to move forward,

Respecting the experience that moved forth.

Grief and praise are the same,

Each guided by the perspective held.

Acceptance of what was, recognition of now,

And choices for tomorrow.

Grievances happen when big changes occur. The sign to recognize what was, accept what's new and move forward in uncertainty. Grief, often related to sadness, is also praise for what was. Losses are hard but they open the door to more. Though no longer as it was, it's still a part of who we are.
