When things go wrong, as they sometimes will When the road you're trudging seems all uphill When the funds are low, and the debts are high When you want to smile but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit Life is queer with it's twists and turns As everyone of us sometimes learns And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow You may succeed with another blow Success is failure turned inside out The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you can never tell how close you are It may be near when it seems so far So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit It is when things seem worse that you must not quit Don't Quit is a poem that has hung on my wall for many years. The words sustained me with perseverance and kept me going. Today, as I look around and witness hardships arise as success shines through, I'm humbly reminded that a full journey requires many twists and turns, and that being tested is our proof that all will be well. Life’s reminder inspired me to write my own version of Don’t Quit. When things go well, as they always do, When you feel you're being tested to make it all true. When the dreams you've held onto are starting to exist, And you want to keep going but part of you resists. When your heart is calling you to make meaning of every hit; Rest of you must, but don't you quit. Life offers growth with every twist and turn, Appreciate the journey and savor what you learn. And many a weakness becomes strength, Had you travelled hard enduring the length. Don't give up when results don't show, You'll succeed following the flow. Success is failure after it's ripe, A just reward after lots of hype, And you often miss what's already there, It may be yours when you choose to care; So, stick to your path when you're hardest hit, It's when things get tough that you must not quit.
