The Irony of Recovery

The irony of recovery

Getting better means time for rest

To process reconnection

The irony of recovery

Progress sparks hope for more

Yet, a reminder to be patient and slow

The irony of recovery

Getting better means time for rest

I hold mixed feelings about my stroke recovery.  I get excited to participate in activities as I used to and disappointed because I must hold back. Each time I celebrate a progress, my body reminds to make time to rest and register what’s new. Without the rest, the possibilities get lost. Every progress sparks hope and reminds me that I must continue slowly. Despite the excitement and inevitable expectations, I’m constantly reminded to be patient and respect the full process. I must persist slow and steady, and I will succeed when all is ready.

You are right to be safe. Tragedy can occur so suddenly; safety takes some planning.

I did learn that not listening would lead to injury. I couldn’t risk it anymore.

I can totally relate to your beautiful sharing, for I was right there not very long ago. I had to learn to contently match the pace at which life was wanting to move – once I learned to slow down without resistance, I found treasures right where I was and I have been moving forward steadily now, I have lost the urge to rush anywhere. I do get impatient time and again, and then find my gratitude back again. Wishing you the best of your journey and the exact speed that matches your amazing desires and dreams!
