Remember the days when tuning the radio was cool? Sitting with our fingers on the dial as the radio waves slowly make a connection, we’d fervently concentrate to hear our station. Such is, as I’ve recently learned, the recovery from a stroke. With many neurons to rebirth, there’s no knowing which one is fully tuned or slightly tuned. I’m determined to hear the waves but, sometimes, they’re not as connected as I thought. Others watch and are captured by my determination, assuring me that I’m capable but not knowing of the disconnection I feel when I push too far. I keep trying because I know my station is there but I also know that now isn’t the time to claim the station.

It took great faith to believe that the radio dial would find the right waves and worth every effort to listen to our song on the radio. So,too, it is worth my every effort to connect my waves and become in tune with my body. My song may not be playing today but, with every effort, the tune becomes more clear.
