“It doesn’t matter what others have thought or said; what truly matters are the thoughts within our own head.”
We are all be met with an abundance of thoughts and words reacting to our person but within the journey of life, the thoughts and words that others have had will not decide for our person. We all perform our own actions for our own reasons and it is our own personal thoughts that will have the greatest relevance in our lives.
I recall a young girl named Sally who enjoyed having her hair styled in different ways by her mother. She enjoyed her abilities and was excited by her mother’s willingness to be creative. One morning Sally was asked what she wanted to have done with her hair and she said, “Mommy, I want to have three braids. Do you think that would be possible?”
Her mom answered, “Are you sure that is what you want? I have never seen anyone with 3 braids before. What if you get made fun of?”
“Nah, it doesn’t matter. I want to see if it is possible and I believe that you can do it. Maybe it could become a new fashion. Right, Mom?” she replied.
Sally’s mother nodded her head and began her magic. Sally was so delighted to have her mother work and was ecstatic with the result. Her mother showed Sally that it really was possible.
When Sally arrived at school, her classmates viewed her new look and started laughing at her. “You look so weird! How could you have 3 braids on your head?” they said to her. Despite the laughter and the words, Sally knew that she had 3 braids on her head because her mother loved to be creative with her and she loved her mother’s magical hair styling skills. Everyone around Sally could ridicule her for her new look but Sally knew that her new look was a loving gift from her mother and her mother’s love meant the world to Sally.
What a great post of love and self-confidence! I love it!
