Personal Vision

Albert, as a big brother, always felt blessed to have his little sister come to him to do her hair. It was a fun endeavor for Albert and Sally to be creative, get to know each other and build a strong bond.

Inspired by his experiences with Sally, Albert wanted to build a career as a hair stylist and work with more people who’d enjoy his creativity. He dreamed of different hairstyles and wanted to further his skills.

When Albert told his parents of his decision, they were apprehensive.

“Are you sure about this, Albert? Will you make enough money to support yourself? What about going to university?” they asked.

Albert pondered on their questions. Yes, hair stylists weren’t considered high paid workers, but Albert imagined the enjoyment he’d feel after each day of work and how creativity would fuel his soul. Despite the doubts he heard, Albert was certain this was a path meant for him.

One day, Albert went to an art show and observed many artists with their work. He was awed by their courage to display their work openly and wondered how they did it. He approached one artist and said, “Wow! You have beautiful work. When you first started, did you ever doubt you’d succeed or believe others when they said you wouldn’t do well?”

The artist smiled with memory and replied, “Thank you for the compliment! Yes, I was doubtful when I started, and many people doubted me. It taught me to focus and listen to my dream. I told myself ‘Don’t fear another person’s opinion; your life is guided by a personal vision. Nobody else could decide where my life was meant to go, only I could decide.”

🙂 Too many people are what others molded them to be.
