The year started and we thought it’d be great,
Only to discover that we were weak.
To a global pandemic we fell prey.
As we adjust, our nerves slowly get grate,
We keep hoping that it’ll end next week.
To end isolation, we turn and pray.
Consolation only found when we pray,
Hope with belief that life will become great.
Some say years or months and we hope next week,
Constant uncertainty makes us all weak.
Normalcy is constantly on the grate,
How did we become vulnerable prey?
Some predicted this, yet we still fell prey,
Would all be better if we sit and pray?
Will we all remain strong under this grate?
Let’s work together to return to great.
Don’t let fears wear you down until you’re weak,
We will grow strong taking it week by week.
Things progress and decline in passing weeks,
We haven’t all succumbed to being prey.
Results vary between the strong and weak,
All will be well, we hope and pray.
We fare with less, realizing life’s great.
Slowly it cools, less confined in the grate.
We’re forming unity, stuck in the grate,
Resourceful while time passes by in weeks.
Knowing and believing that life is great,
We are learning much, having been the prey.
We’ve done it with more than just time to pray,
Nothing will condemn us to remain weak.
Strength is our choice when we find ourselves weak,
Togetherness helps us to survive the grate.
To all our workers, we give thanks and pray,
They have been heroes in the passing weeks.
Without them, we would’ve all fallen prey,
-Have no reason to realize what’s great-
We don’t remain weak as these weeks have passed,
Pressure’s under the grate, waiting for prey.
Life will be great, let’s unite and pray.
This poem is a reflection on the life that has been, the hope still felt within and the belief that we will come out stronger than we were by supporting each other. Keep safe and healthy, everyone!
