Take a Chance

Alfred loves to cook, dreaming to be a chef when he grows up. With his friend Sylvia, Alfred often traded recipes and sampled foods.

Once a month, Alfred cooked for his family and they were sure he’d win cooking contests, but after each meal, Alfred said, “This isn’t as good as Sylvia’s. I used her recipe, but hers is better.”

There was a cooking competition coming up and Alfred refused, sure he’d lose to Sylvia. “It’s the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It’s the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance. Sylvia isn’t your only competition, how are you to learn if you never try? Take a chance and make learning your success.” his mother encouraged.
