Jayde raised her son, Robert, on the family ranch. Robert spent his childhood exploring the ends of the property and finding places to mark his visits.
When Robert went to college, Jayde missed him greatly and knew the best way to feel his presence was to visit where he’d been. Jayde made time for herself weekly to saddle her horse, ride to the ends of her property and searched for markings on the trees.
Jayde visited Robertโs favorite site, looked at it wistfully, then turned on her horse, heading home and whispering with a smile to herself, “It’s comforting that these memories were left here with the trees. It makes him feel close, even when he’s far away.”
A nice story.
