You are What You Believe

You are what you believe

Your thoughts become your reality

Don’t let flaws become what you achieve

You are what you believe

Fears will grow into thieves

Repetition become an actuality

You are what you believe

Your thoughts become your reality

Many times, I’ve heard people complain about their memory, disappointed and ready for defeat. “Lately, I keep forgetting. Even when I talk about it, I forget. I guess it’s old age and just the way I am.”

I believe everyone is a product of what they choose to believe. When I lost my memory due to medication, I didn’t want to accept it. When I let myself say Oh, well, I guess it is what it is, I forgot things more and more. Because my sharp memory meant the world to me, I accepted it wouldn’t be the same and worked on saving what I could. When a task was important, I’d state the goal to myself.  The first few times trying wasn’t successful and continuing to try made it a habit. When it’s important to me and far away in time, I repeat the goal daily to remember.

My memory’s sharpness never returned but since that time, my consciousness has never let me forget. I’m still human and screw up, but I know I’ve tried and that is enough.
