“If justice is what you wish to pursue then start by becoming an example through you.”

Eddie strives to become a loving individual so that he can have comfortable relationships that are constant, without worry. Since a young age, Edward has been friends with his neighbors Billy, John and Craig, and they were lucky to be in the same class at school.

Everything was well between Eddie, Billy, John and Craig until a new student named Nathan was introduced in their class. Nathan appeared to be shy, but Eddie was drawn to get to know him. Billy seemed to dislike Nathan and started to bully him at recess.

“Hey, Nathan, don’t have any good friends yet?” Billy would taunt. John and Craig laughed along, but Eddie didn’t approve of what Billy was doing. Eddie was unsure of how to react, he didn’t laugh along with his friends or interject, he only knew to send Nathan a look of reassurance.

“Billy, why did you talk to Nathan that way?” Eddie asked, when they weren’t near Nathan.

“Why does it matter? He’s not going to do anything about it anyways. Besides, what do I have to worry for? I always have you guys on my side. We’ll never be lonely.” Billy replied.

Eddie couldn’t agree with Billy. If Nathan didn’t have friends, it would be good to befriend him and help him, not discourage him.  “Billy, that’s just not nice. We should invite him to get to know us.” Eddie said. Despite what Eddie wanted to do, his friends didn’t agree with him and he didn’t want to join them to exclude Nathan.

The next day, Eddie went to school with his mind made up to befriend Nathan. He sent a casual greeting to his friends and made his way to Nathan. “Morning, Nathan. Can I hang out with you today? I would love to get to know you.”

“Sure, Eddie.”

At recess, Eddie and Nathan played together. Billy, John and Craig approached, and Billy said, “Nathan! I see you have made friends with Eddie.”

Eddie replies, “Yes, Billy, Nathan and I were getting to know each other. You guys are welcome to join us, there are lots of things we have in common with him.”

“Really?” John asks.

“Has Eddie told you about our favorite game?” Craig asks.

As Nathan gets to know John and Craig, Billy watches and realizes that Nathan does have a lot in common with them. “Hey, Nathan. I’m sorry I didn’t welcome you from the start. Eddie was right, I should’ve invited you to get to know us.”

Nathan smiles and replies, “No worries. We can get to know each other now, and then we’ll bother each other every day because we’re friends.”
